You Are My Hero

It was early in this century, at the medicinal materials market on Ren Xin Street in Jiang Cheng, the first among the four nationwide famous medicinal materials markets and endowed with traditional Chinese medicinal culture, that an unexpected murder in broad daylight was opening the prelude to a vital trial of strength between true and false medicine. And consequently it led to an emotional conflict mingled with truth and false, good and evil, life and death, intrigue and love, between Li Ruoqing, the successor of a family of traditional Chinese medicine, and the young criminal policeman, Huang Zhao and Gao Xiang, the leader of an illegal gang which engaged in producing false medicine. 
Ruoqing, beautiful and intelligent, was born in a family of the South King of Traditional Chinese Medicine, however, she was unwilling to inherit the old shop, Bai Caoxuan, handed down from her ancestors and engaged in medicine. Therefore, she involved in a family conflict with her father.
Huang Zhao, who was very hostile to evil, upright, unyielding and endowed with courage and insight. While he was taking a vital trial of strength against the false medicine-producing group, the affection between him and his girlfriend gradually got into crisis.
Gao Xiang, handsome, scholarly and refined in appearance, was the medicinal-executive teem leader. He is the backstage master of the false medicine producing and selling group of his elder brother, Gao Yuan. What’s more, he was very passionate to Ruoqing, for whom he had an innocent affection in childhood.
Under the operation with Ruoqing and his father, Huang Zhao pretended as a medicine peddler to make a deal with Gao Yuan. After a trial of intelligence and courage, the false medicine producing and selling group led by Gao Yuan was once for all destroyed. However, at the critical moment, Gao Yuan pretended to sacrifice ties of blood to righteousness with his shotgun, which resulted in the breakup of the case into further investigation. 
With a strong desire to revenge, Gao Xiang resigned and asked to be a disciple of Ruoqing’s father. He exhausted his mind to gain affection from Ruoqing by cheating. A wicked intrigue was being carried out quietly under his delicate arrangement.
On the contrary, the investigation to Gao Xiang made by Huang Zhao caused misunderstanding from Ruoqing. Cheating by means of love, Gao Xiang carried out his intrigue smoothly. When finally Ruoqing found cheated, all had been beyond being retrieved. An unexpected big fire not only ruined Bai Caoxuan and took Ruoqing’s father’s life, but also completely destroyed her whole-heartedly devoted affection to Gao Xiang. 
The tragedy caused by the destruction of love and family made Ruoqing lose the courage to her future life. Luckily she got help from Huang Zhao, under whose encouragement, she regained her confidence and determined to restart her ancestor’s career, Bai Caoxuan. Meanwhile, Gao Xiang made the use of the capital cheated from Bai Caoxuan to restart his former trade, producing and selling false medicine, more secretly and more crazily. However, only when he lost, did he realize that he could not give up his affection to Ruoqing.
Under Ruoqing’s efforts, the new Bai Caoxuan advanced with hardship. Gao Xiang, with his powerful strength, was eager to destroy Bai Caoxuan for a second time whenever he could find a chance, and therefore Ruoqing could be forced to turn back to him. At the same time, Huang Zhao made hot investigations to Gao Xiang’s wicked trade of producing and selling false medicine. One thrilling trial after another was being put on continuously. 
The uncontrollable mass of false medicine took the innocent life of people one after another, and Gao Xiang’s endless evil means endangered Bai Caoxuan from time to time. However, relaying on the family tradition of being honest and worthy of trust, her born talented for trading and the valuable help from Huang Zhao, Ruoqing not only was not destroyed, but also improved continuously her career in trials. The new Bai Caoxuan became a more brilliant career then ever before. On the contrary, Gao Xiang outsmarted himself and, step by step, he disposed himself where no road was beyond. The false medicine-producing group finally stepped to its dead end on Ren Xin Street.
During their cooperation and getting along, Ruoqing and Huang Zhao gradually found their sincere love on each other after so much hardship.
Gao Xiang did not resign himself to be defeated and decided to put all his eggs in one basket. He imitated the traditional prescription newly developed by Bai Caoxuan and then he shifted the misfortune onto Ruoqing by cheating her into his elaborately planned conspiracy. Consequently Ruoqing was arrested for a false charge. After a stirring intense trial, Huang Zhao’s brilliant intelligence and courage finally exposed the truth of the case to the daylight, and as a result, the illegal gang was thoroughly rounded up by the police.
Meeting his dead end, Gao Xiang fell into his final craziness. He broke into Ruoqing’s home and kidnapped her. At this vital moment, Huang Zhao threw himself directly to the shotgun and covered it with his body, defending love and justice at the cost of his life.
In the Emergency Operation Center of the hospital, Ruoqing kept calling the dying Huang Zhao, the hero in her heart. Could a miracle possibly appear?

The plot of this play is greatly well knitted and one suspense follows another. On the one hand, the play is endowed with the great quintessence of Chinese Medicinal Culture; on the other hand, it directly hit the most sensitive focus concerned by the public in the movement against the false, the theme of false medicine, and therefore it is easy to arouse response from the spectators. It also intermingles the chief line of the heroes’ love into a series of fierce conflicts between good and evil, even into fatal conflicts, and closely connects individual emotion with conventional moral and social justice. The whole play is full of strong idealism and heroism called by our society. It is a modern love play, which can be blended into the main tone range and full of commercial plots.
